Why Is Marrying On Valentine’s Day A Bad Idea

While the notion of marrying on the national holiday for lovers sounds like a romantic idea, it may not bode well for the marriage in the long run.

Valentine’s Day is one of the most popular days to tie the knot, but a recent study suggest you’re more likely to get divorced if you marry on February 14.

The study looked at 1 million couples, and discovered over 11% of couples called it quits by their 5th anniversary. Twenty-one percent of those couples lasted nine years.

That’s 18% to 36% more likely than couples who picked a random day. That’s not to say the February 14 date is bad luck, but the romance of marrying on cupid day may overshadow the significance of marriage.
