Crime Story: Wife of Tennessee Teacher Who Ran Off With Student Files For Divorce
Tad Cummins’ wife has filed for divorce.
The former Tennessee teacher who left town with a 15-year-old student is still on the run from authorities. Tad Cummins’ wife Jill Cummins officially filed for divorce last week. Cummins publicly pleaded with her husband to return home with Elizabeth Thomas. And it’s not because she wants him back.
Tad Cummins was the former teacher of Elizabeth’s. They disappeared weeks after a student reported seeing Elizabeth and Tad kissing in his classroom.
Tennessee Law allows 15 different grounds for divorce and Cummins chose the following:
“The husband or wife is guilty of such cruel and inhuman treatment or conduct towards the spouse as renders cohabitation unsafe and improper, which may also be referred to in pleadings as inappropriate marital conduct.”
Humiliation certainly classifies as “cruel and inhuman treatment.”
If caught, Tad will be charged with kidnapping. Tad and Elizabeth were last spotted in Oklahoma City on March 15.
