Kristen Bell Says Monogamy Is Not In Our Human Nature

Kristen Bell may be married, but monogamy may not come so natural.

While promoting her latest movie, Bad Moms 2, Kristen Bell told Men’s Journal, humans aren’t meant to be monogamous. Bell is married to fellow actor Dax Shepard and they share two young children. They’ll be celebrating their wedding anniversary this month, however, she’s stated in the past they have to work on their marriage.  The actress has been open about their marriage counseling and she’s learned  much about her relationship with him.

“He’s very direct about his emotions, and I’m grateful for that because it lets me in on the way he thinks as far as tending to our marriage—when we should go to therapy, when we have to be better at intimacy, all those things in order to meet each other’s needs,” she told Men’s Journal.  “He’s very open about what he needs to stay satisfied in our relationship, because if one partner isn’t satisfied, you just kiss it goodbye; somebody’s going to stray.”

Later in the article she was open about her thoughts on staying faithful in a relationship.

“I’m quite positive we are not meant to be monogamous. It’s difficult, and it requires a lot of attention, vulnerability, and openness.”

While she says it might not be in our human nature to be with one person our entire lives, it can be done through a lot of work on both sides.

It’s refreshing to hear a celebrity couple being so honest about their relationship when other celebrity marriages put on a fake front via their social media postings.
