New Dating Trend: Breadcrumbing

Here are some carbs no one wants to indulge in.

“Breadcrumbing” is the latest dating trend giving you relationship anxiety.

And no, it has nothing to do with Hansel and Gretel.

Instead, a person leaves you little hints – or breadcrumbs – that they still are interested in you. But nothing ever comes of it.

Urban dictionary says “breadcrumbing” is “when a guy or girl gives someone just enough attention to keep their hope of a relationship alive.”

Chances are – you went on a few dates with someone – only to discover shortly thereafter they got into a relationship with someone else.

But every few weeks – they drop a casual “like” on your Instagram or send you a “DM” that’s vaguely flirtatious.

So they string you along and keep you interested. And when they *are* single again, the breadcrumbs pick up in frequency. Maybe a comment on your profile pic. Or a text message asking you how you’ve been.

Basically, this person is so emotionally fragile – they need the validation of feeling like multiple people are interested in them at once. And they have such a low self-esteem they can’t stomach being alone.

So cut those carbs out of your diet – and ignore the breadcrumbs.
