Jay-Z Confirms There Was A Becky With Good Hair
Finally the Jay-Z and Beyoncé cheating rumors have been confirmed after a 3-year guessing game.
Ever since Solange’s fight with Jay-Z in the elevator after the Met Gala in 2014, people and the media have been speculating the argument centered around Jay-Z’s cheating. Then came Beyoncé’s album Lemonade in 2016 which referenced an infidelity and Becky with the good hair in a track titled “Sorry.”
Jay-Z this year released his album 4:44 with lyrics that alluded to his infidelity. While it all but confirmed his infidelity, he finally confessed to it in an interview with The New York Times‘ Executive Editor Dean Baquet.
“So, even with women, you gonna shut down emotionally, so you can’t connect… In my case, like, it’s deep. And then all the things happen from there: infidelity.”
The music mogul didn’t speak in-depth about the cheat or reveal who is “Becky with the good hair,” but he did admit the affair occurred after he shut down his emotions when issues from his past resurfaced. Born Sean Carter, Jay-Z was raised in Brooklyn’s drug-infested Marcy Projects by his mother after his father left at age 11. He opened up to The New York Times about his rough childhood and selling drugs.
Beyoncé’s husband also explained how both albums provided a sort of therapy for both of them.
“It happened -we were using our art almost like a therapy session. And we started making music together.”
However, Beyoncé progressed with her music first so her Lemonade album was released ahead of his. He tells The New York Times it wasn’t easy spilling their feelings into music tracks.
“Of course. And both very, very uncomfortable, but the best place in the, you know, hurricane is like in the middle of it.”
Jay-Z and Beyonce’s marriage may have gotten past their marital issues since the couple became parents to twins Sir and Rumi last summer.
