More You Spend On An Engagement Ring, The More Likely You’ll Divorce

Engagement Rings

Diamond may be forever, but engagement rings may not be.

A new study revealed that the more you spend on an engagement ring , the more likely you are to get divorced. Emory University and the National University of Singapore found after surveying 3000 Americans that men who spent between $2,000 and $4,000 on an engagement ring had a higher rate of divorce than men who spent $500 to $2,000.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, those who spent less than $500 are also more likely to get divorced.

In addition to spending money on an engagement ring, a lavish wedding may cause friction between a couple. The reason behind that is that couples are spending more time planning a wedding and digging themselves into debit rather than working on a future together.

Men will be citing this survey from now on when shopping for an engagement ring.
